North Atlantic Refining
Newfoundland & Labrador Employers'' Council President Marilyn Tucker commented on the recipients, "North Atlantic Refining is a well-known leader with a commitment to its workforce in all areas of progressive employment relationships. The company and its union have worked together for thirteen years and have never had a union disruption."
Tucker commented, "Memorial University is also being recognized as an Employer of Distinction in the large employer category due to the successful integration of its human resource strategy with its strategic direction – this at a level seldom witnessed in any organization. Memorial continues to attract and retain talented employees into all positions and maintains a turnover rate of less than 1% for permanent employees."
Exploits Valley Dental
Tucker, speaking of the winner in the small employer category, "Exploits Valley Dental does not have an internal Human Resources Department but acts as if it does. One of the judges commented that the organization could package what they have done in the field of employee relations and franchise it to others in their industry".
