The Award:
The Newfoundland & Labrador Employers' Council Founding Chair's Scholarship was established by Vince Withers, one of the founding members of the NLEC, to commemorate its 25th Anniversary.
This award is a scholarship of $1000 cash and is presented to a student pursuing a course of study that is related to labour and employment.
Eligibility:
The Founding Chair's Scholarship is open to any full-time student registered at an accredited post secondary institution in Newfoundland & Labrador whose course of study is related to employment. This includes but is not limited to human resources/labour relations, law, journalism and economics (at any stage of the program).
To apply, interested students must submit confirmation of full-time registration, an original transcript, and a resume, as well as an editorial or critique on a specific topic selected each year.

Full eligibility and submission details for 2010 will be posted this summer.
Selection:
Submissions will be evaluated by a three (3) member scholarship selection committee appointed by the NLEC Executive.
A formal presentation of this year's scholarship will be made at the NLEC Fall Conference scheduled for November 23rd and 24th, 2010. The winner will be offered the opportunity to present their submission at that time.
